The casserole project allows individuals to help feed the hungry by preparing casseroles in their own homes, freezing the casseroles and then delivering the frozen casseroles to St. John’s. Volunteers collect the casseroles on the first Sunday of each month. The collected casseroles are delivered immediately to Elizabeth House, a soup kitchen in Laurel. Participation in the project is on an as able basis; some cooks prepare casseroles every month, others only two or three times a year. A set of six recipes is used. A particular recipe is assigned each month and all are fairly easy to assemble. If you have any questions or comments about the project, please contact Kim and Jeff Paniati at paniati@verizon.net.

For families registered at St. John the Baptist, please complete this anonymous survey. The purpose of this brief survey is to gather the levels of Mass attendance and ministries participation in our parish. The information will be used by the Parish Pastoral Council to organize an in-parish reflection on strategies to restore and increase a greater participation in both. The format of the general meeting will be the same as was employed for the Synod Listening Session in 2022. All responses are anonymous. Thank you for your participation. Thank you to our parent volunteers for their great effort to plan and coordinate the event, which had been scheduled for Dec. 3, and thank you to all of the parent-volunteers who responded to the request for help with a pledge to decorate, clean up, and provide service on the day of the event. Breakfast with Santa is a big operation, and we just weren't ready in a few key areas. We are working on planning Christmas activities during the school day, in partnership with parent volunteers, on the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 16. More on that to come.
